Sometimes it takes a third-grader to make it all clear...

Sorry for the lapse in posts. I've been taking a graduate summer school class and it is waaaaay more work than I thought it would be. (I'm looking at it as a good reminder of how my students sometimes feel!) The class ends a week from today when regular posting will resume.

Here is a drawing to hold you over:

Another teacher approached one of my students and asked him a question...

Teacher: Jax, why does Mrs. B have little pieces of velcro tape on the carpet?

Jax: That's so she can freak out if our desks are crooked.

Another brilliant work, presumably guided by the "drawing with squares" art book. I love that the artist named him Bob. Isn't that pretty standard for a snail's name?

Aimee: Mrs. B!! Guess what happened at recess!

Mrs. B: What?

Aimee: Clayton got stung by a bee on the butt!

Mrs. B: Clayton, are you allergic to bee stings?

Clayton: Naw. I'm okay as long as I don't have to sit.

Mrs. B: Oh. Okay. Well, in that case, you can stand while we do math.

Clayton: Aww, shoot. (pause, thinking) Ummm...maybe I am allergic. I think I should go to the nurse.

Sorry for missing yesterday! My internet was down. Fortunately, the tech guy showed up and pointed out that my modem wasn't plugged in. Ummm...yeah. Anyway, here are two random drawings. Both hilarious.

Jason's Grandma...

An angry elf...

This note appeared on my desk the last day of school.

When people visit our classroom to present, I always have the students write thank you letters. Recently, I've added a box at the top so the students can illustrate their letters. This is what was at the top of Teeny's letter after the police officer visited our room. I'm beginning to think the illustration box was a bad idea...

In case the writing is too small to read, here is what it says:

I am locked in jail asking, "What did I do?"

The officer is telling me, "You did not give the kids enough learning!"
